Chicago Park District, Chicago KICS Soccer, Mettle Sports Announce Registration Open for Neighborhood Soccer Tournaments in June

Humboldt Park, Calumet Park and Riis Park to host the first-ever, family-friendly community soccer festivals

The Chicago Park District in partnership with Chicago KICS Soccer and Mettle Sports will host a series of local soccer team tournaments and family-friendly festivals at Humboldt Park, Calumet Park and Riis Park, starting June 10. 

This is the first year that the Park District teams up with Chicago KICS Soccer and Mettle Sports to bring the coed soccer series to neighborhood park locations.

On and off-the-field will be a worthwhile experience for all those who attend the community sporting event. The soccer tournaments also feature family-oriented festivals that offer free entertainment in the form of games, music, bounce houses and soccer clinics for residents from these and surrounding communities.

“The Chicago Park District is pleased to partner with Chicago KICS and Mettle Sports to activate our local parks with fun and exciting sports activities that engage our young athletes and provide safe spaces in our neighborhoods for their friends and families to see them play,” said Chicago Park District Superintendent & CEO Michael P. Kelly.

Registration is open to all local teams and individual players, between the ages of 6 and 12 years old, who are interested in participating in one or all of the tournaments.

The soccer tournaments are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Humboldt Park (1400 N. Sacramento Ave.) on June 10, Calumet Park (9801 S. Avenue G) on June 17 and Riis Park (6100 W. Fullerton Ave.) on June 24.

The cost is $50 for teams and $10 for individual players. To participate in the tournaments, players must register at

Winnin​g teams will take home tournament trophies and medals of participation will be handed out to all of the outstanding athletes.

Mettle Sports, a for-profit organization providing fields and programming to schools and municipalities, will enhance the tournament festival atmosphere by providing Chicago’s youth with portable soccer fields to use during the tournaments.

The Chicago Park District offers a variety of athletic programs for youth and teens to receive training necessary for competition at various levels with an emphasis on learning basic skills and incorporating the rules of fair play and sportsmanship.
