Chicago Park District Hosts Minority and Women Owned Vendor Fair


The Chicago Park District will host a Minority and Women Owned Vendor Fair at South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Dr., Tuesday, Sept. 17 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.  This event will offer vendors an opportunity to learn about the District’s procurement process in addition to connecting with representatives from the Chicago Park District and other organizations. 

“The Chicago Park District is not only focused on recreation,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly.  “We are also committed to the development and utilization of Chicago’s minority and women-owned businesses and the value they bring to the communities and families we serve.”

The fair brings together a number of buying organizations including the City of Chicago, sister agencies and city museums committed to identifying qualified MBE/WBE firms.  It is also an excellent networking opportunity for businesses.  Representatives from companies that do business with the Chicago Park District will be on hand to discuss their experience.  In addition, staff from MBE/WBE assist agencies and certification agencies will be present.

During the workshops, Chicago Park District department personnel will discuss desired contractor qualifications and experience as well as performance measures for their respective contracts.  The Department of Purchasing will discuss the District’s procurement process and how businesses can participate.

The firms encouraged to attend are distributors, construction contractors (all trades), manufacturers, professional services, landscape services, janitorial services, financial services, legal services and printing and graphic design.
