Circus in the Parks Closed 2012 Season This Past Weekend
Circus In The Parks, featuring Chicago’s Midnight Circus, closed its 2012 season this past weekend.
General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly said, “The Chicago Park District is committed to giving patrons access to the arts, and Circus In the Parks is a wonderful way to engage children and their families in their own communities.”
Midnight Circus is a high-flying assortment of acrobats, aerialists, clowns, contortionists and a dog who toured seven Chicago Park District locations in September and October to perform a theatrical circus under a tent.
This unique partnership between the Chicago Park District, Midnight Circus, park advisory councils, aldermen and sponsors has become a Chicago tradition. Since 2007, the Circus In The Parks program has played to nearly 30,000 attendees.
To date, the program has raised upwards of $400,000 for local park improvements.
