M. Laird Koldyke
M. Laird Koldyke is a founding partner of Winona Capital Management, a Chicago based private investment firm focused on making growth investments in consumer companies. Winona Capital manages investment capital on behalf of high net worth families, individuals and select institutional investors. Prior to founding Winona Capital, Mr. Koldyke was a partner of Frontenac Company, a Chicago based private equity firm with over one billion dollars of capital under management. As a partner, Mr. Koldyke co-led Frontenac’s consumer investing practice. From 1983 until 1987, Mr. Koldyke worked in the National Marketing Division at IBM Corporation.
Mr. Koldyke has served on the boards of numerous consumer companies including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Einstein’s Bagels, Wild Oats Markets, Home Fashions Inc., Whitehall Jewelers, Leewards Crafts and The Laird Norton Company, a family business where he also served as chairman. Mr. Koldyke is currently a director of CYMI, Inc., Fat Brain Toys Inc., Fusion Academy LLC, Monica Vinader, PLC and Rodd and Gunn, LLC.
Mr. Koldyke holds a bachelor’s degree in history from Northwestern University (1983) and a Masters in Management (MM) from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management (1989). He is a regular lecturer at the Kellogg School on leadership and private equity.
He previously served on the Board of Trustees of the San Miguel Schools; a Chicago based schools initiative serving crime ridden city neighborhoods; is a former trustee of Northwestern University and is a founding member of the Springboard Foundation, a venture philanthropy group based in Chicago.
He is a member of the Chicago Lakeshore Improvement Committee.
Mr. Koldyke resides in Chicago with his wife Deirdre, they have four grown children.
After rooting each and every summer for as long as he can remember, Laird was ecstatic when the Cubs broke the curse in 2016.
