9/27/2011
Autumn is a perfect season to celebrate the great outdoors. The Chicago Park District invites families to Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn White Drive, on Saturday, October 1 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the season at Fall Adventure Day. Admission is free. No registration is required.
“We encourage kids and their families to come out to Northerly Island for this great event to get in touch with nature and experience the fall season in all its glory,” said Michael Kelly, Chicago Park District interim General Superintendent and CEO.
Kids and families can enjoy fall themed arts and crafts at the event. Also, enjoy the local harvest, trade in your favorite ghost stories, fish in Lake Michigan, watch the fall bird migration, enjoy a guided nature hike and celebrate the changing of the season at this fun, educational outdoor event. In addition, participants 8 years and older will have the chance to kayak in Burnham Harbor. This will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Two trips will be available, one hour each and kayakers will get a chance to paddle around Burnham Harbor.
