Title: Summer Food Service Program

The Chicago Park District is soliciting bids from food service vendors to prepare, deliver, and serve meals to children participating in its summer programs. This food service will include approximately 850 breakfasts, 22,450 lunches, and 18,900 afternoon snacks, per day, in approximately 200 parks, all of which are within the limits of the City of Chicago.  The contract will run from June 1, 2013, to August 31, 2013.  Actual operating (food service) days will run from July 1 through August 16, 2013.  All meals served must meet the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) pattern requirements and adhere to established Chicago Park District menus.   

A five-percent (5%) bid bond is required at the time of bid opening.  A ten-percent (10%) performance bond may be required after contract award.  All contracts are subject to review by the Illinois State Board of Education. 
The CPD provides the food for its summer camp programs through the Illinois State Board of Education’s Nutrition Program, which mandates that solicitations for the preparation, delivery, and service of food strictly follow their requirements and guidelines. Accordingly, the format and required documentation issued for this IFB is different from typical CPD IFBs.
