The Chicago Park District (CPD) sponsors a Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) and is soliciting bids for food service vendors to prepare, deliver, and serve meals to children participating in its summer programs.
The CPD is soliciting bids for the summer food service program for approximately 20,000 breakfasts, 20,000 lunches, and 20,000 snacks served daily throughout the City of Chicago. The operating days will run from June 1 through August 31, 2012. All meals served must meet the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) pattern requirements and CPD established menus.
A 5 percent bid bond is required and a 10 percent performance bond may be requested.
The CPD provides the food for its summer camp programs through the SFSP organized by the Illinois State Board of Education (“ISBE”). The ISBE’s Nutrition Program mandates that solicitations for the preparation, delivery, and service of food strictly follow their requirements and guidelines. Accordingly, the format and required documentation issued for this IFB is different than typical CPD IFBs. All contracts are subject to review by the Illinois State Board of Education.
