The Garfield Park Conservatory just planted a new Breadfruit Tree, so what better way to enjoy sweater weather than to pair up this tree with other ingredient plants in the collection for a special Garfield Park Conservatory Soup & Bread night?
On the menu for this evening of sipping and sampling are soups inspired by delicious plants such as the Cinnamon Tree, the Lime Tree, the Chocolate Tree, and more. Soup stations will be located throughout the Conservatory, with soup sharing and sampling by Chicago restaurants and cooks, including West Town Tavern, City Provisions, Mana Food Bar, Lula Café, and more. A special “hailstone” soup station will highlight the Conservatory’s roof reconstruction project. Live Middle Eastern music will entertain guests at soup tables in Horticulture Hall and the Jensen Room. Bring your own tea cup for tasting this evening’s samples, or borrow one of ours.
The Garfield Park Conservatory is proud to partner with Soup & Bread, a seasonal community meal and hunger-relief fundraiser based at Chicago's Hideout. The 2013 Soup & Bread season starts January 2, 2013; for more info see the Soup & Bread website.
