Fleurotica Hits the Catwalk at New Location in West Loop Neighborhood

2/8/2012

August_Bloom_2 Fleurotica, where flowers meet fashion, hits the runway once again, but at a new location, Venue One on 1044 W. Randolph, in Chicago’s West Loop neighborhood, dazzling both fashionistas and flower enthusiasts on Friday, March 23 from 6:30 – midnight.

Heralded as the botanical fashion show of the year, Fleurotica struts down the catwalk this spring, as fashion meets flowers. To help kick things off in style, NBC 5 entertainment reporter LeeAnn Trotter lends her talents as celebrity guest emcee this year.  Guests will be treated to a variety of artistic floral interpretations in wraps and clothing, hats and more, all made from flowers, plants and leaves. The runway soiree is a collaborative event between the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance and Chicago-area florists that include:

  • Blumgarten & Co.
  • Color and Company
  • Event Creative
  • Flower Child
  • Flower Petal
  • Juicy Designs
  • KLA Designs
  • Ildiko Phillips Designs
  • Luz Cardenas and Stacy Bal (Whole Foods – Orland Park)
  • Natural Beauties Floral
  • Scarlet Petal
  • Anna Held

Following the fashion show, the party continues until midnight with a post-fashion show meet and greet with the winning florist and their design.  Attendees can participate in a live auction and watch an iron florist competition between five of the florists, where they will have 30 minutes to create a floral display each utilizing the same materials.

Fleurotica is further enhanced by beautiful lighting, music and professional photographers. Food tastings will be provided by Harry Carry’s, Cork, Limelight, and Phil Stefani’s to name a few, along with an open bar sponsored by Veev Spirits and Goose Island. Tickets prices are as follows:

  • VIP Tickets -  $225 each and include all General seating benefits, plus an upgrade to prestige seating at the fashion show, a premium swag bag, and other surprises.
  • General seating -  $175 each and include a seat at the fashion show, pre- and post-show parties with cocktails & hors d’oeuvres, coat check and valet parking.
  • General seating Ticket Pre-Sale through Tuesday, February 14th – only $150 each!

The fête, presented by Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, will benefit the rebuilding efforts at the Garfield Park Conservatory following this summer’s devastating hail storm. The Conservatory is a vital part of the community, providing educational programs and events in a lush tropical environment in the middle of the city. Reservations are required by calling 773-638-1766, extension 28 or by visiting www.fleurotica.org.

Fleurotica 2012 is being supported by the generosity of the following sponsors: Behind The Scenes, Calahan, CORK, Goose Island-Beer, Harry Caray’s, Inspiration Kitchen, Limelight, Marcello, Phil Stefani, Tipsy Cake Chicago, Wishbone and VeeV Spirits.

Owned by the Chicago Park District and operated in partnership with the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, the Conservatory is open Monday through Sunday from 9a.m. to 5p.m. and on Wednesdays from 9a.m. to 8p.m., with free admission and convenient free parking. (Special exhibit and activity fees may apply.) For information about Garfield Park Conservatory and related programming, call 312.746.5100 or visit www.garfieldconservatory.org.
