Illinois Football Tickets For Sept. 14 Soldier Field Game on Sale Today

SMG, the management company of Soldier Field, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., in conjunction with Russ Potts Productions, announced that tickets went on sale today for the Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013 game between the Fighting Illini of the University of Illinois and the Washington Huskies at the historic stadium in Chicago.  SMG has entered into an agreement with the University to host this rare collegiate football game.  Illinois will be the third Big Ten football program to play at Soldier Field in as many years.  The Fighting Illini last played at Soldier Field on Sept. 1, 1994 hosting current Pac-12 member Washington State, ending a 10-9 victory for the Cougars.

“College football is a great part of the legend of Soldier Field, and this game is a continued promise to bring first-class college football to the historic stadium and to Chicago,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly.  “From hosting the annual College All-Star game to former collegiate champions such as USC, Notre Dame and NIU, we are very proud that Soldier Field continues to be a significant venue in the history of collegiate football.”

"This is a great opportunity for our football team to play in one of the most historic football venues in the nation," said University of Illinois Director of Athletics Mike Thomas.  “Soldier Field is in an incredible location that will allow our fans in the Chicagoland area and from around the state an opportunity to watch the Fighting Illini take on an outstanding Pac-12 opponent.”
