Reserving Athletic Areas at Parks Along the Lakefront

If want to use an athletic area in a park along the Lakefront, you must secure an Athletic Area Permit. If you are interested in securing an athletic area at any park not along the lakefront, please contact that local park. For phone numbers and contact information on all of your Chicago Parks, please visit our Parks and Facilities page.

HOW TO RESERVE ATHLETIC AREAS ALONG THE LAKEFRONT:

Download and complete the 2005 Athletic Area Permit Application (pdf). Please refer to our Lakefront Maps for locations of athletic areas.

The local park offices will contact you regarding the status of your application. Athletic Area Permits must be picked-up in person - they cannot be mailed or faxed. Frequently Asked Questions

Is alcohol allowed if I get a permit?
Alcohol is not permitted on Park District Property without an Athletic II, Corporate I or Corporate II Special Event Permit and required documentation and licensing. For more information, please see page 3 of our Special Event Permit Application (.pdf).

If I need to cancel, can I get a refund?
Athletic Area Permits are not transferable. No refunds will be given, unless notice of cancellation is given 5 days in advance, in which case the fee will be refunded, minus a 15% cancellation fee. Rescheduling for inclement whether may be possible. Please contact the local park office for more information.

What if someone is on my field when I arrive?
Make sure that you have the “hard copy” of your Athletic Area Permit on hand at the time. This permit shows that you have exclusive rights to the field for the stated time and date. If you have any problems, please contact Chicago Park District Security (312) 747 – 2193.
