"Princess Academy" by Newbery-award winner Shannon Hale
In this performance, Miri is a poor, 14-year-old girl living on rocky Mount Eskel. At the end of the year, the prince will travel to her village to choose his future wife--but first all eligible girls must attend a makeshift mountain academy to prepare themselves for royal life. Despite the joy of receiving an education, Miri faces bitter competition from her classmates, and an outside threat which endangers everyone at the academy.
