PARK DISTRICT FACILITIES CLOSED FOR THREE MANDATORY SHUT DOWN DAYS AS PART OF 2009 BUDGET CUTS

Release Date: 11/04/09

The Chicago Park District administrative offices and facilities will be closed for three days adjacent to the holidays. The mandatory shut down days are effective:
-Friday, Nov. 27 (the day after Thanksgiving)
-Thursday, Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve day)
-Thursday, Dec. 31 (New Year’s Eve day)

“The Chicago Park District, like countless other local organizations, is faced with rising costs of basic needs and a decrease in funding to meet those needs,” said General Superintendent and CEO Timothy Mitchell. “The past year has presented a number of challenges resulting from these difficult financial times, and the mandatory shut down days are one of the many measures we took to balance the 2009 budget.”

Patrons should contact their local park for hours of operation around the holidays, or visit www.chicagoparkdistrict.com.
