CHICAGO RIVERWALK KICKS OFF INAUGRAL EVENT

1st Annual “Taste of Riverwalk” Scheduled for June19 - 21

The Chicago Riverwalk is hosting the 1st Annual “Taste of Riverwalk” event this weekend, Friday, June 19 - Sunday, June 21 from 11 a.m. – 10 p.m. Admission to Chicago Riverwalk is free and the cafes and attractions will be offering special discounts and tasting portions to visitors during the event this weekend.

The following is a list of specials and activities available during the “Taste of Riverwalk”:

Between Lake Shore Drive and Columbus Drive:

•Babette’s Liquid Assets will be opening this weekend and features bubble tea, exotic coffee drinks and beignets!

•Mayor Daley’s River Fishing Festival will run all weekend during the event.

•Bike & Roll: Two for one bike rentals this weekend.

Between Columbus Drive and Michigan Avenue:

•Cyrano’s Café & Wine Bar on the Riverwalk: will offer grilled perch remoulade with pomme frites.

•Shoreline Water Taxi will be offering free water taxi service to Navy Pier with purchase of Architecture Tour ticket.

Between Michigan Avenue and Wabash Avenue:

•McCormick Bridgehouse & Chicago River Museum: Fish liberation event, Friday at 12:00 will release a baby bluegill into the Chicago River!

•O’Briens Riverwalk Café will offer sample portions of their soon-to-be-famous fried green beans.

•Chicago Water Taxi will offer free water taxi service this weekend for anyone with a receipt from another Chicago Riverwalk venue.

Between State Street and Dearborn Street

•Diosa on the River will offer special sample plate this weekend and a jazz brunch Saturday and Sunday.

Between Dearborn Street and Clark Street

•Lagniappe Creole Cajun Joynt will offer a free opening reception Friday from 7 to 11 pm; Crawfish boil on Saturday; and Sunday buffet.

Between Clark Street and LaSalle Street

•Chicago River Dog Café will be opening weekend!

The Riverwalk is a river-level promenade offering visitors concessions that include riverfront cafes, tour boats and water taxis, bicycle rentals, and retail stands featuring crafts made by local women entrepreneurs. Running from Franklin Street to Lake Shore Drive, the Chicago River is wheel-chair accessible east of State Street and continuous between the lakefront and a ramp at State Street. Stairs are located at every bridge.

Admission to the Chicago Riverwalk is free, but fees vary for the attractions. The Chicago Park District runs concessions on the Chicago Riverwalk through an agreement with the City of Chicago. For information, visit www.cityofchicago.org/riverwalk.
