Chicago Park District Keeps Summer Fun Rolling with Outdoor Screenings
Release Date: 05/14/07
The Chicago Park District hosts the seventh annual Movies in the Parks, presented by Allstate, with screenings of current and classic movies in more than 170 neighborhood parks throughout the city from June 1 – Sept. 18. Admission is free, and all movies begin at dusk.
“The Chicago Park District is committed to providing safe and affordable outings for the entire family,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Timothy J. Mitchell. “The Movies in the Parks series is an opportunity for people to enjoy a great movie together at a local park.”
The Park District encourages Chicagoans to grab a picnic basket and a blanket to enjoy the Movies in the Parks program this summer. Several of the selections include Spanish language films with English subtitles from the Chicago Latin Film Festival. Additional selections include The Wizard of Oz, Dreamgirls, and Happy Feet. Many screenings will feature closed captions.
