FALL INTO A NEW SEASON OF FLOWERS AT LINCOLN PARK CONSERVATORY

CHICAGO PARK DISTRICT HOSTS ANNUAL CHRYSANTHEMUM FLOWER SHOW

Release Date: 09/26/08

A rainbow of fall colors will fill the Lincoln Park Conservatory, 2391 N. Stockton Dr., at the annual Chrysanthemum Flower Show from October 11 through November 30. The free autumn floral display features a wide variety of hues and shades found in the Chrysanthemum family.

“The Chicago Park District continuously strives to offer the community a chance to connect with nature through a variety of our programs, events and facilities,” said Tim Mitchell, Chicago Park District General Superintendent . “The Chrysanthemum Show at the Lincoln Park Conservatory has been bringing families together each fall.”

Thousands of the traditional “Queen of Fall” flowers, including Spider, Quill, Daisy, Brush, Anemone, Button and Daisy mums, will color the show house in shades of yellow, orange, red, pink, lavender and green. Artistically displayed as Cascades, Hanging Baskets, Tree forms and several large bush mums, the flowers will mingle with additional plants like Grasses. There is an Asian theme to the show highlighted with pagodas.

“The Mum Show at Lincoln Park Conservatory is probably one of the longest running flowers shows we offer,” said Chicago Park District Conservatory Director Mary Eysenbach. “This Mum Show is representative of a more traditional display which has been produced since the 1920s. The flowers featured in this show are the same varieties visitors have been viewing since the start of the 20thCentury.”
