Art in the Market Festival at Garfield Market Place

The Garfield Market Place is hosting an exciting festival of cultural, visual and performance art Saturday, Aug. 26 - Sunday, Aug. 27 from noon to 5 p.m. The Garfield Market Place is located just north of the Garfield Park Conservatory, 300 N. Central Park Ave.
Featured visual artists Candace Hunter, David Geary, Quinton Foreman, Dale Washington will join master artisans Babatunde, Faith Davis, and many more for Art in the Market. Levette Haynes and the West Side Cultural Arts Council will display various works of art from East Garfield Park. Fine art, jewelry and crafts will be on sale. The Chicago Origami society will provide family fun for all ages.
The free festival also will feature a variety of musical and dance performances including the Najwa Dance Corps Experience, gospel group Ordained, Jazz pianist Howard Sandifer and Friends, and internationally renown vocalist Adekola Adedapo with Jazz ensemble featuring Chicago’s own Cecil Savage, Calvin "Coco" Bronson, and Milwaukee’s jazz maestro saxophonist Berkeley Fudge.
The festival is sponsored by the Chicago Park District and the Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance. Additional funding is provided by Chase Bank and City Arts.
Garfield Market Place, an open-air market, operates Saturdays and Sundays, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. through Oct. 29.
