Join us for an evening lecture/demonstration featuring Raj Rang: Colors of Rajasthan Folk Music of Rajasthan, India at Indian Boundary Park & Cultural Center, located at 2500 W. Lunt in Chicago, on Thursday, May 10 at 6:30 p.m. The event is free and open to all ages.
This lecture / demonstration from Rajasthan India, is by folk singers who belong to the Langa and Manganiar community. The music of Rajasthan is driven by pulsating rhythms created by an array of percussion instruments and is accompanied by double headed flute and the hypnotic Jewish harp. This extraordinary group of musicians, representingRupayan will take their audience on a journey through the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, India. These professional Muslim musicians offer praise to Hindu deities, playing the four-stringed sindhi sarangi and ghungroos, or ankle bells.
