Release Date: 04/04/08
The Chicago Park District’s Comptroller’s Office was recently awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
The award is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and recognizes the Park District’s comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ended December 31, 2006, by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
“The Chicago Park District is thrilled to receive such a prestigious award that recognizes our efforts in accounting and financial reporting,” said Timothy J. Mitchell, Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO.
The CAFR was judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR. Such an award represents a significant accomplishment by the Chicago Park District’s Comptroller’s Office.
The GFOA is a non-profit professional association serving approximately 17,000 government finance professionals with offices in Chicago, IL and Washington, D.C.
