Chicago Park District Welcomes a New Line Up of Vendors to Garfield Market Place

The Garfield Market Place's European open-air bazaar returns for its fifth year! The Garfield Market Place located at 300 N. Central Park will offer a wide variety of all new vendors and unique products this year. The market features artwork from local artists, fresh organic produce, handmade items, baskets, soaps, jewelry, clothing, food and much more. The Market will operate Saturdays and Sundays, 9 am to 5 pm.
“We are delighted the Garfield Park Market Place is returning for its fifth year and is a wonderful addition to this world-class Conservatory,” is a wonderful addition to this world-class conservatory,” said Timothy J. Mitchell, General Superintendent of the Chicago Park District. “Over the past four years, this unique amenity has served as a great family destination offering a wide variety of items.”
Thebays which house the Market’s vendors were originally built as horse stables and later occupied by the Chicago Park District’s trades unit. The Garfield Market, which opened in 2003, is another example of the Chicago Park District’s adaptive reuse of facilities.
This year, the Chicago Park District welcomes the following new vendors to the Garfield Park Market Place:
Artworks Chicago
As visitors stroll by the creative displays and the various booths they will find fine art, high quality crafts, jewelry, affordable hand crafted items, imported art, and painted or appliquéd clothing/accessories. In addition a wood carver from Kenyawill be working on pieces as well as selling is work.
Candy
Reminisce with some old fashion candy from the 50s, 60s 70s and 80s. Introduce your kids and grandkids to the candy you ate as a child and satisfy your sweet tooth all at the same time
Fine Point Productions
This booth is sure to offer “fine-point” entertainment for kids! Fine Point Productions has everything you need for kids to have fun, face painting, magic, balloon animals, caricatures, puppet shows, and much more.
God’s Gang
God’s Gang offers an all encompassing program of vermiculture (worm farms) and agriculture. Their objective is to engage youth in urban agricultural and landscaping activities, offering fresh, organic produce.
Richard’s ChicagoStyle Deli and Ice Cream
Enjoy reasonable food, with a wide variety of sandwiches and salads and premium ice cream, all served with a smile.
Select Service
Select Service offers some favorite foods eaten at a carnival, cotton candy, soft pretzel and golden kernel pop corn.
Smoothies
Enjoy premium fruit smoothies with fresh fruits. A variety of cold and hot beverages will also be offered.
West Side Cultural Arts Council
West Side Cultural Arts Council is a coalition of representatives from the arts, cultural and educational community who seek to nurture and promote art, heritage and humanities in the Garfield Park community. Look for a variety of art that will be on display and available for purchase. Educational courses will be provided as well.
What the Traveler Saw
“What the Traveler Saw” offers a culturally diverse shopping experience, with embroidered Chinese mukluks, Japanese sushi dishes and comical Mexican Day of the Dead finger puppets.
Women-Eye (Women Owned Managed Empowered Network)
Empower Yourself Everyday! Women-Eye Inc. is an international non-profit organization based in Chicago, Illinois. Their mission is to help women empower themselves by providing them with the information, skills and tools necessary for them to succeed. Over twenty talented women will have hand-made items for sale, ranging from baskets, jewelry, clothing, bath and beauty products, dolls and much more. Free arts and crafts workshops will be offered to the community.
