KIDS STAY ACTIVE THIS WINTER AT 16 NEIGHBORHOOD SPORTSFESTS

ACTIVITIES KEEP KIDS BUSY AFTER SCHOOL, PLUS ON SCHOOL HOLIDAYS AND WEEKENDS

Release Date: 01/27/09

The Chicago Park District takes Mayor Daley’s Sportsfest program into the city’s communities with the launch of 16 Neighborhood Sportsfest events Feb. 7-March 28. The family friendly program is admission free and open to the public.

Chicago neighborhood parks will host day-long activities, most of which will include a variety of mini-tournaments (floor hockey, soccer, basketball, dodgeball), electronic game stations (Wii, Dance Dance Revolution), and interactive kid zones (fishing ponds, tumbling, tots obstacle course, inflatables). Contact each park for scheduled activities.

“Families are more active than ever,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Tim Mitchell. “Neighborhood Sportsfest provides families with an opportunity to incorporate exercise and fun during these long winter months.”
