"The show is a wonderful way to demonstrate the Prairie Club's 100-year commitment to Chicago's natural areas," observes Anne Royston, Chair of the Centennial Art Show. Royston says twenty artists will be featured with more than forty works exhibited. All artwork is nature-oriented, but media includes watercolors, oils, photography, and even quilts.

Artists hail from Chicago and surrounding suburbs including Elgin and Riverside, as well as out-of-state participants from California and Michigan.

Cathy Maloney, author of The Prairie Club of Chicago (Arcadia: 2001), notes,

"The Prairie Club has always nurtured artists among its environmentally-conscious members." "Historically, artist members have included Dunes painter Frank Dudley and others of his stature."

"In Step With Nature" will kickoff a series of Centennial activities to be held throughout 2008. Plans are underway for a two-day bike trip, celebrations at the Indiana Dunes, and other outdoor activities.
