Volunteer Description:

Care to share your passion for Lincoln Park?

The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the Chicago Park District are seeking individuals to participate in a docent program at the North Pond in Lincoln Park. Volunteer docents foster a greater appreciation and understanding of this beautiful Lincoln Parksite by providing interpretative tours. Beginning on Saturday, April 17, 2010 new docents will begin 6 weeks of training from area experts on horticulture, the art of interpretation, the history of Lincoln Park, and landscape design. If you love nature, history or horticulture and want to learn more about Lincoln Park, this is the opportunity for you.

Docents give free interpretive tours of the North Pond. This 1880s pond and surrounding landscape with a profusion of wildflowers and trees have been transformed into a nature sanctuary providing habitat for turtles, frogs, herons and over 190 species of migratory birds.
