Volunteer Description:
The Lincoln Park Conservancy and the Chicago Park District are seeking individuals to participate in a greenhouse volunteer program at the Lincoln Park Conservatory.
Greenhouse volunteers gain the experience of grooming in a display and production greenhouses, receive the benefits of working hands-on with a broad range of plant material and contribute to the achievement of higher horticultural standards in plant care.
Weekday Greenhouse volunteers may be asked to do some of the following tasks: grooming plant material by leaf or dead foliage removal, transplanting plant material, facility maintenance, specialty soil maintenance, detailed grooming of production stock and other light duty production and display gardening tasks. Normal agility and ease of frequent bending is helpful for volunteers.
Weekday opportunities exist from 9:00 am to noon on selected days.
Weekend opportunities exist from 9:00 am to noon on the first and third Saturdays of the month. At this time, tasks are limited to grooming only and restricted to a limited number of volunteers.
