DUTIES: Directs the activities of the information management services department including such areas as selection and purchase of computer hardware equipment, interfacing on special projects with other departments, development and monitoring of the departmental budget, and supervision of technical and administrative staff personnel.Approves the purchase, rent, lease, license or other acquisition from outside sources of computer systems, hardware, software or services to meet the needs of the Park District in accordance with established policies and procedures.Approves changes in data processing, communication, or office system equipment so that expenses are minimized while ensuring reliable and timely services.
Monitors the security of data processed to ensure the integrity and reliability of computerized information systems.Reviews proposed systems and recommends appropriate action.Prepares an annual budget and establishes controls to stay within the specified limits of that budget.Reviews requests for additional information systems services and identifies impact on current planned resources.Analyzes and interprets complex computer reports and data to determine the accuracy and integrity of the information systems operating.Attends meetings to plan and implement MIS interfacing efforts with efficiency and cooperation.Authorizes the procurement of information systems hardware and software to provide adequate technical systems capabilities throughout the Park District.
Maintains effective communication with all operating departments to ensure that their information systems needs are met.Prepares and manages training material and programs for operating departments staffto efficiently and effectively utilize available technology.
Coordinates special projects within the MIS department and other departments to ensure proper utilization and application of information management resources.Implements systems and procedures to comply with electronic discovery requests required by local and federal courts.
Directs, oversees, manages, supervises, trains, motivates and evaluates the performance of subordinate staff to ensure development and enhancement of skills necessary to accomplish their duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, supplemented by 5-10 years of relevant experience in systems design and systems analysis, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
