Redmoon's Sonic Boom is a participatory community event in 10 parks on Chicago's south and west sides. At each park, Redmoon provides a free 2-hour workshop in poetry and drumming for local community members, taught in collaboration with the ubiquitous Bucket Boys and renowned poets from Young Chicago Authors. Following the workshop, Redmoon presents a parade and performance that includes an interactive experience centered around a large-scale spectacle device, The Sonic Boom, a 16-foot tall platform for singers, speakers and DJs. Community participants in the drumming and spoken word workshops are encouraged to join the procession and participate in the show. In addition to the drum and dance party, the performance will also include Redmoon's signature fire projections and a giant slide. Don't miss it!
