Save the Last Dance
A complicated clash of cultures, both ethnic and artistic, provides the backdrop for this musical drama about a white middle-class, small town teenager (Julia Stiles) thrust into an unfamiliar world when she enrolls in an inner city, virtually all-black Chicago high school following her mother's death. There she finds solace and affection with a handsome, gifted and popular African-American student (Sean Patrick Thomas). Although their romance flourishes because they share a passion for dance, individual obstacles and antagnoism toward their budding romance threatens to seperate them. At stake is Derek's hopes for a better life and Sara's recovery of her dreams.
