Caught: The Woods is a dark and playful meditation on creatures in captivity, why we catch things, and what we imagine when we ourselves get caught.

Members of Fifth House Ensemble led a series of free, interactive Musical Story Circle workshops in September and October at Chicago Park District venues and in classrooms throughout the city.  These stories gathered by communities serve as the catalyst for performances of Caught: The Woods.

Innovators in the art of narrative chamber music, Fifth House Ensemble teams up with NYC-based playwright Stan Richardson, Chicago’s Joel Hall Dancers Youth Company, and theater artist and puppeteer, Emmy Bean, pairing local tales with classical and modern chamber music, bringing Chicagoan’s stories to life on the concert stage.

Caught: The Woods features works by Benjamin Britten, C. V. Stanford, John Elmquist, Joseph Haydn, Edgar Meyer, and Jason Charney.
