Presented by Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Chicago Park District and Garfield Park Conservatory Alliance, Half in the air in the given space, 1999 (Work No. 210)by British artist Martin Creed (British, b. 1968) will be on display at Garfield Park Conservatory until October 15 and on display from daily 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Free admission.
Half of the space is filled with white balloons which gives a tangible form to something that’s usually invisible: the air around us. The artwork is meant to be enjoyed as you walk through it and not just viewed from the outside. After reading a few guidelines for safety provided at the door, visitors will be able to enter the space.
This project is organized by the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago and presented in collaboration with the Hyde Park Art Center; the Garfield Park Conservatory; the City of Chicago’s Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, the Chicago Transit Authority, and the Edgewater Development Corporation.
