Theater on the Lake: The Chicago Summer Theater Festival presents 8 plays in 8 weeks, showcasing a strong cross section of Chicago's rich off-Loop theater community. Manual Cinema presents Lula del Ray based on original text by Brendan Hill; Created by Drew Dir, Sarah Fornace, and Julia Miller. This feature-length shadow play is performed with overhead projectors, shadow puppets, actors in silhouette, live music and almost entirely without dialogue. A lonely adolescent girl, Lula del Ray, lives with her mother on the outskirts of a vast radio telescope array. When Lula discovers a soulful country music duo on the radio, she leaves home and enters a world of danger and deception to find them.
