Registration Now Open for Senior Games September 11-30
The Chicago Park District invites active seniors to participate in the Senior Games September 11-30 at various citywide parks.
The Senior Games are one of the many sporting events that the Chicago Park District offers to keep residents of all ages and abilities active,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Mike Kelly.
Festivities kick off Tuesday, September 11 at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 63rd St. Beach House, 6300 S. Lake Shore Dr. Athletes will partake in the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron and a fun walk.
The sporting competitions take place at various Chicago Park District sites and include track and field, horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball, bowling, and much more.
Closing ceremonies are September 27 at the South Shore Cultural Center, 7059 S. South Shore Dr. The culminating event is an outing to U.S. Cellular Field for a Chicago White Sox game Sunday, September 30.
Seniors who are residents of the City of Chicago, are at least 55 years old by September 11, 2012, are in good physical health and are actively training in their events are encouraged to register. Entry fee is $25. Registration must be received by Monday, September 10. There will be no on-site registration for events on competition days.
