Registration Now Open for Sporty Seniors to Compete Sept. 10-26 in 2013 Senior Games

“The Senior Games are one of the many recreational events that the Chicago Park District offers to keep residents of all ages and abilities active,” said Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly.
Festivities kick off Tuesday, Sept. 10 at 10 a.m. with opening ceremonies at 63rd St. Beach House, 6300 S. Lake Shore Dr. Athletes will partake in the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron and a fun walk.
The sporting competitions take place at various Chicago Park District sites and include track and field, horseshoes, shuffleboard, basketball, bowling, swimming, line dancing, golf and much more.
The games close Thursday, Sept. 26 with awards ceremony at Columbus Park Refectory, 5701 W. Jackson Blvd. An outing to U.S. Cellular Field for a Chicago White Sox game will follow on a date to be announced.
Seniors who are residents of the City of Chicago, more than 55 years old and are in good physical health are encouraged to register. Interested seniors can register online here. Registration must be received in advance. There will be no on-site registration for events on competition days.
