Snow Trekking at Northerly Island

12/11/2013

This winter season enjoy Northerly Island, 1521 S. Linn White Dr., by snow trekking with snowshoes and/or cross country skies during select dates this winter from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. weather permitting.

Families can circle Northerly Island on their snowshoes or cross country skis. While circling the Island look for winter birds, winter native animals, or enjoy the incredible view of Chicago’s skyline.  Participants can also enjoy a good old fashioned snowball fight, build a snowman or two and take a break from the cold weather by warming up inside the field house.

It is $5 to check out equipment for two hours of snow trekking on a first-come, first-served basis with a valid I.D.   If you have your own cross country skis or snow shoes, it is free to ski and snowshoe around Northerly Island!   There must be at least three inches of snow.  During the following dates Northerly Island will have snowshoeing and cross country skiing available weather permitting:

  • December 14 &15
  • January 4 & 5
  • January 11 & 12
  • January 18 & 19
