Snow Trekking Fun With Snowshoes & Cross Country Skis at Northerly Island

This winter season enjoy Northerly Island, 1400 S. Lynn White Dr., by snow-trekking with snowshoes and/or cross country skies for free during select dates Saturdays and Sundays now through February 27, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. There must be at least three inches of snow.
You can also join us and Make Your Own Snowshoeson Sat., Feb. 19 from noon to 3 p.m. This particular program is $20 per pair of snowshoes and registration is required. Please call (312) 742-4914 to register to participate.
Families can circle the 91- acre peninsula on their snowshoes or cross country skis. While circling the island look for winter birds, winter native animals, or enjoy the incredible view of Chicago’s skyline! Participants can also enjoy a good old fashioned snowball fight, build a snowman or two and take a break from the cold weather by warming up inside the field house.
During the following dates Northerly Island will have snowshoeing and cross country skiing available:
· Sundays: January 30
· Saturdays: February 5, 12, & 19
· Sundays: February 6, 13, 20 & 27
If you don’t have your own snowshoes or cross country skis, equipment is available to check out for freeat the Northerly Island field house.
