Soldier Field Hosts 9th Annual Spring Egg-Stravaganza March 31

2/23/2012

More than 4,000 adults and children are expected at the 9th annual Spring Egg-Stravaganza, the largest free candy grab in Chicago featuring 2,000 lbs. of goodies on the field at Soldier Field Stadium, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., Saturday, March 31.  A ticketed breakfast will be held at the United Club from 8:30-10 a.m.  An admission-free festival begins at 9 a.m. and the candy grab on the field follows at 10 a.m.

Children ages 10 years and younger are welcome to participate in this event presented by Dominick’s.  The fun will be broadcast on the stadium’s two super-sized 23’ x 82’ video screens for parents to cheer from the sidelines.

“This popular event is a wonderful opportunity for Chicagoans to celebrate spring and to experience the historic stadium,” said General Superintendent and CEO Michael Kelly of the Chicago Park District.

There is an art contest open to all youths up through 8th grade to submit a color drawing representing Chicago in the spring.  The winning drawing will be printed on the 2,000 commemorative wooden eggs given to all kids that come to the event.  Cash and prizes are given to first through third place entries.  Kids are encouraged to enter their best drawing by Friday, Feb. 24 by sending them to Soldier Field, Egg-Stravaganza Art Contest, 1410 S. Museum Campus Dr., Chicago, IL 60605.

Before the candy grab, children will have the opportunity to have breakfast with the bunny and take photos at Soldier Field’s United Club from 8:30 - 10 a.m.  Admission to the breakfast is $17.50 for adults, $12 for children under age 10, and free for children under age 3 with a paying adult.  Reservations are mandatory for breakfast and must be made by Friday, March 30 by calling 312-235-7162.

The South Courtyard will host a spring festival featuring large inflatables for all ages, face painters, a balloon artist and much more from 9–11 a.m. along with other entertainment.

Guests are asked to park in the Waldron Garage for $10 and to enter the stadium on the south end at Gate O.  For more information, call 312-235-7000 or visit www.soldierfield.net.
