Soul Asylum Headlines Bud Light Concert June 25 at Taste of Chicago's Petrillo Music Shell

Midwest rock favorites Soul Asylum rounds out the lineup at the Petrillo Music Shell Saturday, June 25 as part of the Taste of Chicago that runs June 24-July 3 in Grant Park. Rare Earth opens in this concert presented by Bud Light.
Soul Asylum broke through in the early ‘90s with their single “Runaway Train.” Following the loss of one of their founding members, the group emerged from a seven-year sabbatical with a ninth full-length album, The Silver Lining, in 2006. The current lineup features founders Dave Pirner and Dan Murphy plus fellow Minneapolis rockers drummer Michael Bland, who has backed Paul Westerberg and Prince, and Tommy Stinson, who played bass with The Replacements and Guns N’ Roses. Soul Asylum was recently in the studio recording an upcoming album.
Rare Earth opens for Soul Asylum at 5 p.m. The Detroit band got their start in 1961 under the moniker the Sunliners. They were picked up by Motown Records and broke into the Top Ten and 20 with two covers by the Temptations, “Get Ready” and “(I Know) I’m Losing You.”

Tuesday, June 28 at 5 p.m.: The Lemonheads; Material re-Issue, formerly Material Issue, opens.
Wednesday, June 29 at 5 p.m.: Natalie MacMaster headlines Celtic Music Day. Liz Carroll, John Doyle and John Williams open.
Thursday, June 30 at 5:30 p.m.: Natalie Cole presented by V103.
Friday, July 1 at 5 p.m.: Loretta Lynn headlines Country Music Day sponsored in part by US99.5. Court Yard Hounds, featuring two sisters from Dixie Chicks, open.
Saturday, July 2 at 3 p.m.: The Jayhawks; Everest opens. Concert sponsored in part by 93XRT.
Sunday, July 3 at 3 p.m.: Greyson Chance; Shane Harper opens. Presented by Radio Disney AM 1300 Chicago.

Food and beverage tickets are sold in strips of 12 for $8 (includes $2 charge for Taste amenities). Purchase food and beverage tickets in advance for only $6 per strip from June 16-23 when you show your Fresh Values Card at Dominick’s. Tickets are $8 per strip from June 24-July 3 while supplies last at Dominick’s.
