Teens Can Sign Up Now to Play Basketball for Free in Windy City Hoops League

Boys and girls ages 13-18 can now sign up to play basketball in the admission-free Windy City Hoops program offered at 10 citywide parks.  The spring session begins today and culminates with championships June 1.  Summer session will run June 14-Aug. 24.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel announced the expansion of the program last month, which will now give 3,200 youth opportunities to play year round.  The program will provide a safe environment for at-risk youth throughout the city.

The program now has extended hours so that youth can play Fridays from 7-10 p.m. and Saturdays from 5-10 p.m.

Admission is free.  Youth will visit their preferred location and complete the registration form to participate.

The mayor is enlisting Chicagoans to donate here to reach the $480,000 goal.  Fundraising will support such costs as uniforms, game referees, and other program costs.
