August 2014: Big Marsh Bike and Eco-Park

This is the plan for Big Marsh Eco-Park at 11601 S. Stony Island Ave, on the city’s southeast side. Formerly the site of an industrial property, natural habitat areas will be enhanced to improve their ecological quality and function. Nearly 45 acres will be developed for eco-recreation opportunities including fishing, canoeing, adventure courses, cross-country skiing, camping and biking. Other acreage will be reserved for nature education programming and passive recreation such as bird-watching and hiking.
