Experience the Magic: Celebrate 20 Years of Chicago Park District Natural Areas
Be on the lookout for Fairy Houses this summer!
The Chicago Park District and The Nature Conservancy will work with 20 volunteers to craft 20 Fairy Houses in 20 Natural Areas in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Natural Areas and the Community Stewardship Program.
Discover enchanting fairy houses this summer within 20 of the more than 90 Chicago Park District Natural Areas citywide and experience the magic of nature in the city, starting on June 25th. These sites include wetlands teeming with frogs and turtles, prairies buzzing with small birds, and savannas filled with butterflies and wildflowers.
Created by volunteers, the wooden creations celebrate the 20th anniversary of Natural Areas, and the Volunteer Community Stewards, who have and continue to help care for these magical spaces.
The Chicago Park District and The Nature Conservancy work in partnership to connect people to nature.
BEFORE YOU GO:
- All fairy houses are located along trails. Please do not venture off the designated trail to limit the impact on the vegetation.
- If you're posting about your adventure (and we hope you do), tag us on Instagram and Twitter @ChicagoParks and use the hashtag #FairyHousesChicago.
