MUSIC, 3K FUN RUN, FOOD, DANCE AND COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHT FESTIVITIES
Chicago, IL – The Chicago Park District will welcome families to several free events at parks in celebration of the Juneteenth Holiday, Friday, June 19. Highlights include live performances, volleyball games, softball games, dance, food, roller-skating, and even a 3K fun run.
Festivities take place Saturday, June 13, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Brainerd Park, located at 1246 W. 92nd St., and on the same day from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at LeClaire-Hearst Park, located at 5120 W. 44th St. Festivities are free to attend and do not require registration.
Another highlight includes the grand opening of Park No. 602 on June 20, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Known as the “West Madison Roller Rink” at 4008 W. Madison St., the newly renovated park features picnic tables, vibrant civil rights-centric murals, lawn games, a roller-skating rink, and free skate rentals from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily from June 19, 2026 to September 7, 2026. Following Labor Day weekend, Park No. 602 will host open roller skating on weekends only from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. through November 1, 2026.
“Our staff have curated thrilling events that provide opportunities for families to come together to connect through conversation, and a shared good time,” said Carlos Ramirez-Rosa, General Superintendent and CEO of the Chicago Park District. “Parks are a cornerstone of our communities, and these Juneteenth celebrations are a reminder of their resilience and power to bring coalitions together for the greater good.”
