The Chi Nutcracker: The Chicago Park District Version

On December 14, 2024, the Chicago Park District park staff, theater, music, dance and technical arts instructors and community members presented a collaborative and contemporary interpretation of the holiday classic "The Nutcracker" at the historic Austin Town Hall Park Cultural Center grand auditorium located in the Austin neighborhood.

The spectacular presentation showcased the awesome talent and breadth of Chicago Park District's dance instructors and students. "The Chi Nutcracker" featured modern, jazz, hip-hop, ballroom, ballet and more. Nearly 600 community members attended this world-class production featuring recently upgraded lighting, sound, and stage elements, as part of a district-wide effort to upgrade and modernize the Chicago Park District's Cultural Centers citywide.
