Veterans from across the country participate in three days of sports activities in three iconic Chicago parks
CHICAGO, IL- Valor Games Midwest returns to the Chicago Park District for the 14th time on August 18, 2026 through August 20, 2026. Three iconic locations host over 100 veterans, offering events such as cycling, archery, powerlifting, tennis, rowing, and more. This competition is for disabled, wounded, ill, or injured service members.
“The Valor Games serve as a shining example of our mission to provide top-tier accessible recreational opportunities to all,” said General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “We are proud to welcome our veterans from across the country to an opportunity that helps grow their sense of community and belonging in a fun and healthy way.”
This event is the only of its kind held in the United States, bringing together veterans from all over the country to participate in a large range of sports and competitions.

- Tuesday, August 18, 2026, 9:00 a.m.: Day 1 takes place at Soldier Field, Gate 0, (1410 Museum Campus Dr.).
- Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 9:00 a.m.: The second day takes place at Lincoln Park’s Archery Range (2 W. Belmont Harbor Dr.) and at the Wilson lot just northeast of the Wilson exit on Lake Shore Drive (4400 N. Lake Shore Drive).
- Thursday, August 20, 2026, 9:00 a.m.: The final day takes place at McKinley Park (2210 W. Pershing Rd.).
There are an estimated 17.6 million veterans in the United States, which is why this event is offered to participants across the country, resulting in 13 states being represented. Valor Games Midwest is open to beginners and long-time participants alike, allowing for the creation of a deeper sense of community and lifelong bonds. A resource fair will be offered on Tuesday, August 18th, for participants and their families. Over 30 organizations are expected to be in attendance. No previous experience is required to participate in any event offered.
In addition to this event, the Chicago Park District offers year-round and seasonal programs for Veterans from all branches to join a community of their peers.
