Healthy Hues Wellness Event at Douglass Park is the first of two health screenings in August
CHICAGO, IL – The Chicago Park District, in partnership with the 92%, is hosting Healthy Hues, a wellness day at Douglass Park, 1401 S. Sacramento Drive, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2026. All ages are welcome to attend this free event. Registration is recommended but not required.
Healthy Hues will feature a full day of interactive activities for the whole family. The goal is for attendees to focus on their health and wellbeing. Guests can enjoy free health screenings, wellness and health vendors, group fitness classes, healthy food demos, giveaways and more.
“We’re excited to continue to open our fieldhouses and provide Chicagoans with equitable access to resources that will allow them to live healthy lifestyles,” said Chicago Park District Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “In support of our three pillars of health, the Park District will continue to empower patrons with the knowledge, resources and support to make healthier choices that include making use of our free park facilities and amenities.”
Healthy Hues aims to make health and wellness accessible, engaging and enjoyable by bringing together healthcare providers, fitness professionals, nutrition experts and community organizations into the parks.
In addition to Healthy Hues, patrons can also take advantage of free mammograms at Humboldt Park, 1440 N. Humboldt Blvd, on weekdays from August 24 to September 4.
The Park District’s efforts are guided by the following three health and wellness pillars:
- Promoting Community Wellbeing – connecting community members, including Park District employees, to essential programs and resources that advance wellbeing, improve health outcomes, and enhance quality of life.
- Supporting Active Living Through Parks – providing access to spaces to allow Chicagoans to lead active lifestyles.
- Ensuring a Healthy Food Environment – supporting access to healthy food options for those who are food insecure; increasing nutrition education to improve diet quality and reduce chronic disease risk.
