A real knock-out outdoor showcase of youth sports
CHICAGO, IL- The Chicago Park District welcomed families, tourists, and loop employees to the annual Citywide Boxing Showcase from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Daley Plaza today, Wednesday, August 5. Chicago Park District boxing program participants ages 8 and older were center stage as they competed in 6 bouts with peers from boxing gyms at parks citywide.
The 16-year-old Davis Square Park Boxer Aziel (ah-zee-el) Williams earned the distinction of Boxer of the Show after winning by unanimous decision at the Daley Plaza Citywide Boxing Showcase.
If the public missed this event, there are 10 more Citywide Boxing Showcases will take place Thursday nights at neighborhood parks. Among the upcoming shows is the Harrison Park boxing showcase, which takes place in conjunction with Mexican Independence Day celebrations on September 17, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. The full schedule of citywide boxing showcases are available here.
Fall registration kicked off this week for boxing and a variety of sports programs. Those interested in learning boxing skills can register for a Fall Program session at one of over 20 boxing gyms here. Patrons can register for an activity at www.chicagoparkdistrict.com/fall-programs. The Fall session starts the week of September 7.
