Game on This February! Teen Field Day & Girls Day of P.L.A.Y Happening in the Parks on Feb. 16 & 17, CPS Days of Non-Attendance

Teens are invited to Teen Field Day on Monday, February 16. When school is out for Presidents’ Day, the parks are in.

Happening at Gately Park, 10201 S. Cottage Grove, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this is a day for youth ages 14 – 18 years old from across the city to come together for a high-energy friendly competition, teamwork and outdoor fun. Participants will enjoy a variety of activities, a silent party and music as well as bubble bumpers, field games, e-sports, contests and giveaways.

The following day, Tuesday, February 17, 2026, 21 park locations citywide will be hosting Girls Day of P.L.A.Y., a CPS Day of non-attendance. Girls of various ages will have the opportunity to compete, socialize, and exercise their creativity with arts, athletics, and team building activities. In 2025, over 2,500 girls participated in Girls P.L.A.Y. initiatives including summer camps and two CPS days of non-attendance. Registration is free and available now at chicagoparkdistrict.com/girls-play.

“We cherish the participation of girls in park programs,” said General Superintendent and CEO Carlos Ramirez-Rosa. “We have a critical duty to inspire active living throughout the year. Through Girls Day of P.L.A.Y., girls remain active on days when they are out of school, which is a pivotal step to building healthy habits that last a lifetime.”

Highlights during this session include pom pom, wrestling, wheel gymnastics, theater, and martial arts at Broadway Armory Park; glow in the dark skating, double dutch lessons, tutu making, and swimming at West Pullman Park; vision boards, piano classes, drum classes, basketball, and swimming and at Homan Square Park, and so many more traditional creative and athletic activities at parks citywide. Kosciusko Park will host ten parks for a Girls Day of P.L.A.Y. session that will allow female special recreation athletes to socialize and participate in karate, Zumba, and portrait painting instruction throughout the day.
