Annual youth talent festival hosts auditions on June 25 & July 9
The Chicago Park District in collaboration with the John Walt Foundation announces the launch of the free Teens in the Park (T.I.P.) Fest and auditions. The annual teen and youth talent showcase will return for its seventh year on Saturday, October 1 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Maggie Daley Park, located at 337 E. Randolph St. The T.I.P Fest stage provides showcasing opportunities for youth artists, including singers, dancers, poets, spoken word artists and musicians.
"Teens in the Park Fest has become Chicago Park District's signature teen-focused performing arts program that gives our youth a platform to showcase their talents and gain knowledge from professionals in the entertainment industry," said Rosa Escareño, Chicago Park District General Superintendent and CEO. "The free event is an excellent stepping-stone experience and an opportunity for teens that perform at T.I.P. fest to show Chicago how incredible, motivated, and talented they are.”
Chicago residents between the ages of 14 to 24 years old will have two opportunities to display their talents at the park auditions that will determine who will advance to perform at the 2022 T.I.P. Fest. Individuals or groups are welcome to audition. This year, audience members will decide who advances to the finals stage. Everyone is invited to come out and cast votes for their favorite acts! The auditions are open to the public to attend and support the artists.
For each audition, performers must register in advance. Upon registering, participants will receive a confirmation with instructions and an audition time. Each performer has a three-minute time limit for their audition.
The first audition will be held on Saturday, June 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Columbus Park, 500 S. Central Ave. The deadline to apply for this audition is June 20. The second and final audition will be held on Saturday, July 9 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Calumet Park, 9801 S. Ave. The deadline to apply for the final audition is July 5.
The top ten artists, five chosen from each audition, will move on to perform at T.I.P. Fest on Saturday, October 1 at Maggie Daley Park, 337 E. Randolph St. Three final winners will be chosen and will receive the following prizes: 1st place- $500, 2nd place- $250, and 3rd place- $150. Winning teens will receive additional incentives for participating, details pending confirmation.
