This unique, powerful, and timely animated documentary tells three personal stories of immigrant youth, highlighting the complexities, challenges, and amplitude of their worlds. 13-year-old Jasmine becomes an activist to defend her and her families’ rights to keep them together, sisters Evelyn and Elizabeth live separated on each side of the border, and José Eduardo Aguilar “El Deportee” is a one-time “Dreamer” who uses spoken word poetry to give voice to a generation of deported Mexicans who are separated from their families in the US. Three distinct styles of animation give us insight into each character’s inner world, exploring their worst fears alongside their colorful hopes and dreams for a better future.
