Come learn the story of transformation that is Palmisano Park! Experience a fascinating 27-acre oasis in an urban setting. This Chicago Public Library guided tour covers over a mile of paths, while traversing terrains that range from wetlands to savannah, from pond to hilltop. Located in the heart of Bridgeport on the city's South Side, the former Stearns Quarry has a history that goes back to ancient coral reefs—join us to explore the park today!

Please note that this event is a walking tour that will go on rain or shine. This event entails about 1.5 miles of walking. Seating and short rests are available throughout. In accordance with other Chicago Public Library events, masks and social distancing are required.


Learn more about park history in the exhibit From Swamps to Parks: Building Chicago's Public Spaces, on display now at Harold Washington Library Center in the 9th floor Exhibit Hall.
