The Civic Orchestra of Chicago returns to the historic South Shore Cultural Center for its eleventh consecutive season. Tito Muñoz, music director of the Phoenix Symphony, conducts a diverse program of American music. A suite from jazz legend Duke Ellington's ballet The River channels the imagery of water as a metaphor for rebirth. Pulitzer Prize-winner Jennifer Higdon's blue cathedral offers a contemplative reflection on the individual?s journey through life, inspired in part by the memory of the composer's late brother.
