Dia de los Muertos: Sugar Skull Making Workshop at Ken-Well
Saturday, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Description
Día de los Muertos, also known as Day of the Dead, is a traditional Mexican holiday celebrated on November 1 and 2. It is a time to honor and celebrate the lives and memories of loved ones who have passed away. Families and communities come together to remember their ancestors and celebrate the connections that continue beyond life.
A central tradition of Día de los Muertos is the ofrenda, or offering. Ofrendas may be displayed in homes or at gravesites and are traditionally decorated with marigolds, incense, photographs, and favorite foods of those being remembered. We invite you to display photos of loved ones on our community ofrenda during the event. (Photos will be returned same day).
Join us for a memorable and interactive Día de los Muertos experience! Participants will learn about this meaningful tradition while creating their very own sugar skull to take home! After the workshop, strike a pose at our Día de los Muertos Photo Booth and enjoy feasting on pan de muerto, a special sweet bread roll served with hot chocolate.
Children ages 6 years - 12 years must be accompanied by an adult for the duration of the workshop. Both the child and adult must be registered for this event to participate.
